In an interdisciplinary department (such as Global & International Studies) it is important to show how the candidate's work is interdisciplinary in terms of theoretical, analytical and methodological frameworks. This is typically evidenced in the candidate publishing in a variety of journals that may not be associated with any one disciplinary perspective. I work closely with the candidate to shape a research narrative that underscores the interdisciplinarity of their work, how their research speaks to various bodies of scholarship, and how it is helping to shape conversations within more mainstream disciplines.
